Overview
A business model describes the rationale of how an organization captures, creates and delivers value. In Social Enterprise this is achieved by applying business solutions to social problems. The ultimate goal is to achieve sustainability by enabling non-profit businesses to support themselves financially in an innovative way instead of relying solely on grants and donations. The emergence of revenue-generating activities for non-profit organisations has created a new model where business principles, market characteristics and values (completion diversification, entrepreneurship, innovation) co-exist and work with traditional public sector values such as responsiveness to community and serving the public interest.
